PaulRolfe.jpgPaul Rolfe was born in 1956 in Richmond Virginia and currently resides in Raleigh North Carolina. He started carving in 1974 while studying at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. By 1982, he was known professionally under the company Raleigh Carving Co.. During his career, Paul has carved originals for commercially-cast reproductions, signs, portraits, statues and ecclesiastical furnishing for churches, awards, and antique furniture reproductions. He has taught traditional woodcarving techniques at City of Raleigh art centers, the NCSU Craft Center, and Klingspor’s Woodworking Shop locations across North Carolina. He  also teaches carving at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, NC (see links). Since 1984, Paul has exhibited and demonstrated at the Village of Yesteryear at the North Carolina State Fair.
